The Casual Curator
✮⋆˙Hail, Traveler!˙⋆✮
March 2026
Never bend the laws of physics to cut the grass when there's a lawnmower in the shed.Welcome to a little hobbit hole where I talk about my curation of physical media, primarily of films and TV shows I adore.
It's been some time since I coded a website. So long that I didn't remember how. To that end, thanks to the gracious folks who post tutorials and templates. I ran amok in the aughts with anime shrines, fan art pages, and OC profiles. Weird personal sites are what the Internet should be about. A little of that will poke through here in the form of D&D adventure journals, photos of minis I paint, and random scribblings.
But! This site will primarily focus on the celebration and curation of blu-rays and the art they hold. Why 'curation' specifically? Well, I'm not trying to collect every movie in existence. I won't hold onto a movie I dislike just to bolster my total number of blu-rays.
✦✦✦ This site is still very much under construction. Practically every link is a lie until I get pages up. But thanks for dropping in and please visit often for updates! ✦✦✦

Aniara
Blu-rayBy the gods, what a film. Based on an epic poem of the same name by Harry Martinson, Aniara confronts one of the most terrifying possibilities in space travel: what if your ship was set adrift forever in the black?
This existential mind-fuck of a story is one of the bleakest, most soul-crushing things I've ever experienced. I mean that in the best of ways because, while I do highly recommend this film, you should make sure you're in a good enough headspace to deal with the pure indifference of the universe and the extremes of humanity as these characters rage against the dying light.
There is no English dub of Aniara. The Swedish language with subtitles version is your only option. And honestly that’s the right call. Every single actor in this film was perfectly cast. A dub would undoubtedly ruin the emotional tone.
Crime 101
TheaterIt was… fine? The generic title didn’t give me high hopes, but I found myself free for a couple hours on a random Thursday and gave it a shot. Love me a good heist film. And I thought there would be some apprenticeship thing going on with a title like that. That wasn't the case. Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, and Mark Ruffalo were great in their respective roles. It just felt like there was some juicy potential that the narrative as a whole lacked, some of the dialog felt stilted, and the conclusion seemed too easy.
Good Luck Have Fun Don’t Die
TheaterI'm struggling with this one. Much like my experience with Death of a Unicorn in 2025, I want to love this movie. Time travel is my jam. Sam Rockwell is a treasure. AI is a problem. People need to connect more with each other. So the groundwork for great messaging in this story is there. But I really only just like it, and that has everything to do with the ending. I saw the first ‘twist’ from the moment he started talking about his past, and they telegraphed the other twist from the end of the second act. Also, I could've gone my whole life without the giant-AI-cat-cluster-giraffe-thing-with-a-huge-horse-shlong. I needed a whooolleee lot of eye bleach after that one.
Iron Lung
TheaterI have no loyalty to Markiplier. I knew who he was but I've never subscribed to his channel, never watched his videos, and don't follow him the way his fans do. I just saw the trailer back in December and told my partner I was going to try to see it in theaters if possible because it looked bitchin’.
So, that sorted… I think Iron Lung is a triumph of passion. I saw it in theaters FOUR FUCKING TIMES: twice with another person and twice alone. It is 100% a film for me. Instant Top 10. I adore cosmic/eldritch horror and the crew nailed it. Sure, Mark could have tightened up the run time but I really don't care, I enjoyed the journey that much. I desperately, desperately need the blu-ray release in my hands, like, yesterday.
